The Grammy Award-winning Wizkid song “Essence” with Tems has sold over 3 million copies in the US, earning triple platinum status.
The singer recently released his eagerly awaited fifth album, entitled “More Love, Less Ego,” and this accomplishment occurred around the same time.
‘Made in Lagos’ contains the song “Essence,” which has broken countless records in the world of music ever since its debut.
The song achieved platinum certification on October 14, 2021, and on March 2, 2022, it achieved double platinum status in the US after selling over 2 million units.
The song from the project entered the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in Nigeria and as the third hit from Africa in July 2021.
Four weeks later, “Essence” made another leap, moving up 23 ranks to land in 59th place on the Hot 100.
Wizkid also released a remix to the global hit, featuring Justin Bieber, the Canadian pop star. The singer of “Fever” has stated that he aspires to be remembered in the same way as the late Jamaican music legend Bob Marley.
“To live forever is my other goal for this new chapter. Not literally, but I want anything I make to last forever,” he said in reference to a musical adaptation of Bob Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up!”
“Yo, we were watching a Bob Marley play, and this guy passed away years ago,” he added. I had no idea he passed away at the age of 36. He was so active when he was small.
It only serves to reinforce what I already know; I must continue to push this to new heights. Because I am certain that they will write a play on me someday.”
